Electric on-board power supply for motor vehicle with IC engine

An electric power supply uses an electrical machine (3) doubling as a generator or starter for the IC engine. Its rotor (4) is joined to the crankshaft. The winding (8) of the stator (5) has a regulator (9) where the alternating voltage of the machine is converted into direct voltage for use with the battery(10) and electrical loads 911). The winding can be connected directly by a switch (12) to an additional load (15). This switch is operated by a separate control circuit (17) or by the starter switch (16). The additional load can be connected to an another stator winding and is the electrical heating unit for the exhaust catalyser, seats or rear screen.
