The warm air device 50 may comprise a box containing a liquid of high thermal inertia and heated by a set of electrical resistances 52, a plurality of pipes 49 traversing the liquid and through air is pumped, the outlets of the pipes being positioned to direct the heated air perpendicularly on to a belt. The infra-red heating unit and the warm air generating device may be positioned to act from opposite sides on a zone of the belts upstream of the pressure rollers, the infra-red heating unit being positioned between the spans of the upper belt and the warm air generating unit between the spans of the lower belt. One or more pairs of opposed rollers between which the belts pass may be positioned upstream of the pressure rollers to promote the bonding of the materials. The pressure rollers may be coated with rubber or a tetrafluoroethylene polymer and the axles of these rollers may be connected by hydraulic means for altering their separation. The reinforcing interlining may be a hemp cloth.
