The invention relates to a connecting clamp releasably connecting an electrical conductor in wire or stranded form to an electrically conductive contact rail, in which clamping plate rotatably mounted in a housing presses the conductor against the contact rail as it pivots. According to the invention, the clamping plate has a cutter which strips the insulation from the conductor with a counter-cutter on the contact rail as the clamping plate pivots and, as it pivots further, presses the stripped part of the conductor against the contact rail with a clamping region adjacent to the cutter, and this connection may be released if required using a suitable tool by exerting pressure on the engagement stub.
