PURPOSE: To provide long life even in the case of a split drive type and to simplify a mounting operation by providing a wiring anode and an auxiliary wiring anode with respective resistors, and providing the auxiliary wiring anode on the side of a first substrate as a conductive layer opposed to an area containing predetermined cells. CONSTITUTION: In a panel 10, a display cell 23 and the adjoining auxiliary cell 25 are split by a cell barrier 21 between a first substrate 11 provided with a wiring anode 13 and an auxiliary wiring anode 15 and a second substrate 17 provided with a cathode 19. The anode 13 is provided with a wiring anode resistor 15, and the auxiliary anode 15 is provided with an auxiliary wiring anode resistor 53 so that the discharge currents of the cells 23, 25 are limited, and so that the cells connected to the same wiring are not affected by a discharge so as to maintain a discharge triggering voltage. The auxiliary anode 15 is provided on the side of the substrate 11 as a conductive layer opposed to at least two adjacent lines of cells 23 and to the whole or part of the area of the associated cells 25. Therefore, damage to the cathode 19 on discharge is reduced, and the number of the auxiliary anodes 15 and that of output wires are reduced. |
