PURPOSE: To provide an end face treatment method for a plastic optical fiber capable of easily forming the smooth end face having a specified angle of inclination with an axial center with good accuracy and a fusion mold used for the method. CONSTITUTION: The plastic optical fiber F is inserted into a ferrule 40 cut as to slightly project the front end in such a manner that the front end face 41 has the prescribed angleβof inclination with the axial center. The fusion mold 10 having a guide hole 12 inclined with the same angleαof inclination as the angleβof inclination is placed on a hot plate 20. The end face having the angleαof inclination with the axial center, i.e., the end face parallel with the front end face 41 of the ferrule 40, is formed at the front end of the plastic optical fiber F projecting to the front end of the ferrule 40 when the front end of the plastic optical fiber F is pressed onto the front surface 20a of the hot plate 20 subjected to a mirror finishing treatment by inserting the ferrule 40 into the guiding hole 12. |
