PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fingerprint detector using a sensing array having a few sensing elements for simplifying a necessary data processing, and reducing full power consumption. SOLUTION: A fingerprint detector 10 uses a skin resistance sensing array 20, and the sensing array 20 generates a sample orbit signal when a fingertip moves across the surface. The sample orbit signal indicates the change of the electric conductance of the resistance of the raised part and valley part of the fingertip. A fingerprint detector 10 is provided with a sampling circuit connected with a processor 40. Moreover, when the fingertip moves to the skin resistance sensing array 20, the fingerprint is detected and collated. The generated sample orbit signal is converted into a digital signal by the sampling circuit. The processor 40 receives the digital sample orbit signal for comparing it with a known reference orbit signal. The processor generates a collation signal when it is beyond threshold probability that the same fingertip generates both the signals. The reference orbit signal is stored in a memory integrated in the device, or applied from an outside storage device through a data interface. |
