摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve stability against corrosion by ambient air and produce electron injector in various structures by using an electrode containing a metal silicide or a metal boride and having a specified work function or lower. SOLUTION: An electroluminescent device 10 is produced by successively forming a bottom part electrode layer 13, an organic layer structure 15, and an upper electrode layer 17 on a substrate 11 such as silicon. The layer 13 works as an electron injector having a work function as high as 4.0 eV or smaller. The material to be used for the layer 13 is selected from the group of metal silicides or metal borides and rare earth metal silicides, yttrium silicide, chromium boride, lanthanum boride, etc., are suitable. The structure 15 works as a light emitter and the layer 17 works as hole injector having high work function. With this structure, an electron injector comprising a lower electrode layer 13 with high stability with respect to corrosion by the atmosphere is obtained.
