The cable clamp locks a power cable where it passes through the wall of an electric appliance. The clamp has a bar (13) that presses the cable (7) against the wall of the appliance housing. The clamping bar (13) is held at one end by a fixed structure (37,39) moulded integrally with the inner wall of the appliance housing. The end of the clamp bar is passed into a passage formed in the fixed structure, and moved transversely to the cable till a hole in the opposite end of the clamp bar is aligned with a threaded hole (15) in the wall. A screw (31) is then used to pull the clamp bar down tightly onto the cable, and to retain the clamp bar in its working position.
