The procedure for cleaning the inside walls of a dishwashing machine has the water jets from the water nozzles re-directed against the walls. To cause this redirection, a frame (30) with deflecting blades (31 to 43) is placed inside the machine. After a certain time, the frame is turned through 90 degrees and the process continued. The pump acts with a higher pressure than with the normal cleaning of crockery. The leaching solution is applied afresh in the heavily contaminated zones. The frame is made from angle section and is rectangular in overall shape. The blades extend in a straight line between opposite sides and are curved in cross-section.
