Windlass for bucket of excavator

A self-contained twin-engined twin drum windlass for the bucket of an excavator has two irreversible IC engines in the drive. There is one drum for the retaining cable and one for the locking cable. The clutches and brakes between the engines and the drums are such that one operates the retaining cable drum and the other operates the locking cable drum during the raising of the bucket. When the bucket is lowered, each engine is coupled to the other drum. The engines are diesel ones. There is an additional device to ensure the synchronisation of the movements of the two drums.
