The machine for copying keys is constituted by a frame (2), a shaft (4) carrying a milling disc (3), a sensor (5) and a work mechanism (6) for holding the model key (1) and the blank key (7). The milling disc and rod are housed in a support inclined at an angle relative to the machine frame. The angle of the axis of the milling cutter rod can be modified independently of the orientation of the sensor. The centre (21) of the milling disc in the fixing system movement plane is located at the same height as the longitudinal axis (8) of the blank key. The sensor senses the model key groove and the work mechanism allows synchronous relative movement of the two keys between the keys' fixing and the sensor and the milling disc rod.
