A method of pleat-folding a strip-form filmic or foil material involving initially pre-pleating in which a zigzag or wave-shaped fold (101) is made in which the apices of the fold have a given spacing between them, and subsequently the fold is shaped by use of an embossing tool (21) forming a folded edge, with a given radius of curvature, along the line of the apices.
