1315000 Forming patterns on moulded blocks JOHN LAING & SON Ltd 14 June 1971 [30 June 1970] 31486/70 Heading B5A Apparatus for forming a pattern on the surface of a moulded block, e.g. of concrete, comprises a frame 10 movable on rails 11 along a mould 12 and carrying a pattern forming blade 13. The frame is moved by a prime mover 18 which drives a sprocket 29 through a chain 26 and chain wheels 25, 27, the sprocket 29 engaging on stationary linear chain 33. The blade 13 is fixed to a cross-beam 37 carried by arms 38 pivotally mounted at 40 and is caused to oscillate as the frame moves along the mould by a cam 41 acting through a push-rod 43. A trip arm (76), Fig. 3 (not shown), and spring (57) disengage the push-rod from the cam when the frame reaches the end of its travel. In Figs. 5 to 7 (not shown), the blade is caused to reciprocate lengthwise by a cam (68) driven from a variable ratio gear-box (63). Alternatively the mould can be moved relative to a stationary frame 10. |
