<p>The coupling consists of male (1, 2) and female (5) components, the latter containing a valve (7) with a seal (10) forming a seat, and a spring (9) which holds the valve open when the two components are fitted together, closing it automatically when they are separated. The valve (7), a surrounding ring (8), the seal (8) and the spring (9) form a separate assembly which is held inside the female component by friction between the seal or seat and the inner surface of the component. The seat has a projecting annular lip, and the ring has an annular projection to engage with an annular cavity in the seal to ensure that the seal is centred on the ring. A rear member (11) is designed to clip into place inside the female component.</p> |
