An unpressurised loading vessel (14) follows a storage hopper and is connected to a metering tube (16), while a motor-driven auger (36) passes through the vessel and tube, while at the outlet end of the latter is an annular nozzle supplied with compressed air. This is followed by a tapering injector pipe (30) leading to the conveyor tube and which can be connected to a separator vessel for the material handled. The metering tube is double-skinned, forming an annular passage (38) supplied at one end with compressed air and forming the nozzle at the other. The metering tube can pass through a distribution chamber (24) supplied with compressed air and through an outer tube (26) enclosing the annular passage, this tube being connected at one end to the distribution chamber. The injector pipe can be connected to the outer tube and flush with it.
