<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a new benzophenone derivative as a specific benzophenone derivative containing a saccharide residue and a hydroxyl group, excellent in ultraviolet light absorption performance, solubility in a hydrophilic organic solvent and compatibility with a polar solvent at a low temperature, useful as an ultraviolet light absorber, a dermal preparation for external use, etc. CONSTITUTION: This benzophenone derivative is shown by the formula (R1 and R4 are each H, hydroxyl group or a 1-4C alkoxy; A is a saccharide residue not containing a protecting group; (m) is an integer of 1 to 4; (n) is an integer of 2 to 6) e.g. 2-hydroxyl-4-[2-(2-maltosiloxyethoxy)ethoxy]benzophenone, etc.}, is excellent in ultraviolet light absorption performance, shows high compatibility with a polar solvent even at a low temperature, high in solubility in a hydrophilic solvent and useful as an ultraviolet light absorber, a dermal preparation for external use, etc. The compound is obtained by reacting 2,4- dihydroxybenzophenone with 2-(2-chloroethoxy)ethanol and sodium hydroxide and reacting the resultant substance with octaacetoxymaltose in the presence of a molybdophosphoric acid.</p> |
