PURPOSE: To provide an ink jet recorder which has high printing quality and excellent durability for a long period by maintaining an ink discharge shape and cleaning performance. CONSTITUTION: An ink jet recorder has a recording head 2 which has a discharge port for discharging ink and sticks and prints ink to and on a recording medium. Accordingly, the recorder comprises a water repellent coating member 101 for coating the discharge port surface of the head 2 with water repellent, and a water repellent reservoir 102 for filling the repellent to be supplied to the member 101. Further, a drive transmission rotary shaft 113 for driving the member 101 is used also as a cleaning rotary shaft for moving a cap 4 covering the ink discharge port when the head 2 is on standby. |
