PURPOSE: To produce a catalyst with high activity by highly dispersing titania of a rutile structure, so that the integrated intensity of peaks of rutile to anatase through a powder X-ray diffraction method is regulated to a specific range and carrying an active ingredient such as vanadium thereon. CONSTITUTION: In a dry reduction method in which ammonia is used for removing NOX contained in exhaust gas discharged from a thermal power plant, NOX is reduced to N2 on a catalyst incorporating titania-vanadium-based composition as the base. In this case, the catalyst for NOX is prepared, so that the existence rate of a rutile structure to an anatase structure in titania contained in the catalyst is in a range of 0.001-0.05 and the specific surface area of the catalyst is >=30m<2> /g. The existence rate is obtained from integrated intensity of peaks in which spacing (d) of lattice plane in anatase is 3.52 and spacing (d) of lattice plane in rutile is 3.25 among peaks obtained by a powder X-ray diffraction method. Further, molybdenum and/or tungsten is incorporated in addition to vanadium in accordance with necessity. |
