<p>PURPOSE: To provide a safety monitoring system for platform, which can reduce burden of the station staff, enhance the safety, and suppress the costs. CONSTITUTION: A safety monitoring system for a platform is furnished with a light beam scanning means 20 and a reflected light beam sensing means 22, wherein the means 20 applies a beam of light 20a from over the platform 14 to its part near each passenger doorway 16 of electric cars 11 and scans the specified hazardous area 15 near the doorway 16 with the beam of light 20a, while the means 22 is installed in linkage with the light beam scanning means 20, senses the beam 22a reflected by the platform 14, and produces light beam pattern information 22b according to the reflected beam. Further a safety monitoring means is provided which executes the pattern acknowledgement on the basis of this pattern information and issues an appropriate alarm if it senses any obstacle 13 having intruded in the hazardous area 15 to inform that a dangerous condition exists.</p> |
