A fuse element comprises a strip having end portions of e.g. copper 20, 21 and an intermediate portion 22 of silver, a body 23 of low melting point alloy adhering to the silver and zones of reduced cross-section being formed in the end or intermediate portions by perforations 24 or notches or by rolling. The trough shaped portion shown may form the silver intermediate section and the low melting point alloy which may be lead/tin solder may be used to secure this section to the copper end portions. The element may be plated with tin or silver and enclosed in a sand filled envelope. |
