[Also in Division B3] Automatic transfer apparatus (Fig. 1) for moving workpieces W in succession from a station 12 in a line, to centres 14 of a machine tool and vice versa, comprises a carriage 22 having a pair of slides 46 movable along inclined intersecting paths and each having a jaw set for holding a workpiece, the carriage being movable along a track by a motor-driven ball-nut and screw device 28, 30 and the slides being independently driven by motors. The latter drive the slides by way of ball-nut and screw devices 52, 56. At its lower end each slide has a pivoted head 58 (Fig. 5) including jaws 72 which are operated by a motor-driven ball-nut and screw device acting on a toggle linkage 80, 82. An eccentric bolt 62 adjusts the pivotal disposition of the head relative to the slide body. |
