A closure cap adapted for press-on application and removal by unscrewing includes means for preventing the cap from settling on its container after application. An annular ridge 22 is formed in a gasket channel 18 in a shell having a skirt portion 14 and a substantially flat closure portion. Gasket sealing material is introduced in this channel and extends down the skirt, as shown. When the cap is pressed on to the container, the gasket material takes up the shape of the container neck, enabling the cap to be unscrewed by means of the threads so formed in the gasket. The thin layer of material at 37 prevents the cap settling on the container, thus preventing an increase in torque required to remove the cap. A series of dimples (41), Fig. 5 (not shown), may be provided instead of the continuous ridge 22. |
