A poppet valve as used in an internal combustion engine comprises a valve head (l0b) and a valve stem (l0a). A hardened layer is formed on the surface of the valve stem (l0a) and is then pressed by pressure rollers (l2) at a portion intended to make sliding contact with a lip seal. Wear in the lip seal is thus decreased. |
