PURPOSE: To provide an actuator which can be deformed in at least three or more directions and excellently return to its initial shape without plastic deformation and a guide wire which is provided with the actuator and has excellent inserting direction selectivity and insertability due to its front end part which can be deformed in three or more directions. CONSTITUTION: An actuator is composed of actuator elements each of which is composed of a water-containing ion exchange resin layer 11 and at least one set of electrode bodies 12a and 12b counterposed to each other with the layer 11 in between and a supporting body 17 and the actuator elements are integrally stuck to or buried in the supporting body 17. A guide wire is provided with the actuator at its front end. |
