<p>PURPOSE: To perform line scanning exposure not generating a bright or dark line at every predetermined interval by providing a period control means of equally divided periods and a comparison means comparing the output of the period control means with the upper order bit of image data. When the comparison result is A=B, the selector 194 outputs the lower four bits of the image data, in this case, 7H. During this period, only 7t is subjected to light emitting recording. When the comparison result is A>B, the selector 194 outputs OH and no light emitting recording is performed.
