PURPOSE: To provide a vibrating gyro capable of realizing its miniaturization easily in a simple structure as well as reducing its manufacturing cost. CONSTITUTION: This vibrating gyro comprises a piezoelectric transducer 12 which contains a vibrator 14 consisting of a constant elastic metal material, for example. This vibrator 14 is formed into, for example, a sectional rectangle and a plane square circular form. Two driving piezoelectric elements 18 and 22 are formed each on top of two sides 16a and 16b of this vibrator 14. In addition, two detecting piezoelectric elements 20 and 24 are formed each in each side face at the peripheral side of these sides 16a and 16b of the vibrator 14. Then an oscillation circuit is connected to each of these driving piezoelectric elements 18 and 22, and the vibrator 14 is flexurally vibrated. Subsequently each output voltage of the detecting piezoelectric elements 20 and 24 is measured, thereby detecting a turning angular speed. Since a nodal point is situated in and around both ends of a diagonal line of the vibrator 14, it is unnecessary to make a support structure of the vibrator 14 to support the vicinity of the nodal point into a complicated, three-dimensional structure. |
