<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture an integrated processor which uses a circuit that copes with data, vision and audio concentration requests of a personal information device on a single monolithic circuit. SOLUTION: An integrated circuit 10 contains a CPU core 14, a memory controller 16 and various peripheral equipment and has universality and high performance. A clock controller 26 which contains multiple phase-locked loops that generate a clock signal which has a different frequency is provided, and current consumption of the processor 10 is small because the controller 26 appropriately clocks various subsystems. The clock signal which is given to various subsystems by controller 26 is derived from one crystal oscillator input signal. A power management device 24 is embedded in the processor 10 and controls a frequency and/or application of the clock signal to various subsystems and also controls the other power management features. A pin number of the processor 10 becomes minimum because the processor 10 selectively multiplexes some external pins in response to desired functionality of the processor 10.</p> |
