<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a new dextrin fatty acid ester and a composition containing this ester. CONSTITUTION: This dextrin fatty acid ester is an esterified product of a dextrin and a fatty acid, having the following characteristics: the average saccharide polymerization degree of the dextrin is 3-150; the fatty acid is composed of at least one kind selected from 8-22C straight-chain fatty acids, 4-26C branched fatty acids, 6-30C unsaturated fatty acids and <=6C straight-chain saturated fatty acids; and fatty acid substitution degree per glucose unit is 1.0-3.0. The other objective gelling agent, composition and base are made of or from or derived from this fatty acid ester. This fatty acid ester is excellent in thixotropy, humectancy, emulsifiability, adhesivity and dispersibility; therefore, the composition blended with this fatty acid ester has excellent characteristics in terms of preservability and usability, and thus is excellent as a cosmetic, printing ink, coating material, etc.</p> |
