A back belt (10) comprising a continuous, non-baffled, pressurizable air chamber (14) having a top edge, a bottom edge, and a pair of opposing ends defining the periphery thereof; cushioning rims (16) along the top and bottom edges of the air chamber (14); symmetrical contouring notches (18) along the top and bottom edges of the air chamber (14) and along the cushioning rims (16); belt connected to the ends of the air chamber; valve means (11) on the air chamber and supportive wall means overlaying the air chamber, and connected to the belt and to the air chamber at the ends of the air chamber; and a novel connector (30) permanently couples the materials from which the air chamber and belt straps (20) for the air chamber are constructed, providing a stability to the joinder of these materials not obtainable by known sewing means.
