<p>Thedevice is used for billet transfer from a storage grid at the end of a conveyor roll street to a heat treatment furnace roll street and comprises linkage interconnected parallel pushing and tilting fingers operating simultaneously in opposite senses with a pushing finger being lowered from a position in which it projects above the storage grid whilst the tilting finger is lifted from a position below the grid, both fingers making contact with the billet away from its centre of gravity during the working stroke, this making it tilt in two stages by a total of 180 degrees during the transfer sequence. Pref. the storage grid has a downwards sloping tension with a ledge along which the billet comes to rest after the first transfer sequence. The device permits the inspection of all four sides of a billet prior to heat treatment.</p> |
