PURPOSE: To make a battery charging device small in size and light in weight and to reduce its costs by exciting the primary winding of an a.c. motor to charge and control a first secondary battery and at the same time charging a second secondary battery by a voltage obtained by rectifying a voltage generated in a charging coil magnetically connected to the a.c. motor. CONSTITUTION: A battery charger 40 is connected to the primary windings 17-19 of an a.c. motor 15, thereby exciting the primary windings 17-19 to charge and control a first secondary battery 1. Also, when a set of transistors 3, 7, 8 and a set of transistors 4-6 are alternately turned on and off, a single-phase a.c. voltage can be generated in charging coils 20-22 by adopting the secondary battery 1 as a power supply. The a.c. voltage generated in the charging coils 20-22 is rectified by a full-wave rectifying bridge 50 and a second secondary battery 52 can be charged by a DC-DC converter 51. Therefore, a battery charging device 100 can be made small in size and light in weight and its costs can be reduced. |
