PURPOSE: To attain an efficient inter-zone communication call connection by confirming at first a resident zone of a calling zone in the setting of a network in the inter-zone communication. CONSTITUTION: In the case of inter-zone communication between a caller terminal equipment 101 and a called terminal equipment 102, it is inquired by an inter-zone communication controller 301 to a relay station 201 of a zone in which the caller terminal equipment 101 is resident whether or not the called terminal equipment 102 is resident, and when the terminal equipment 102 is resident, the call is connected as it is and when not resident, the controller 301 inquires of other relay stations 202, 203 about it. The call is connected to the relay station 203 providing a zone residence notice. Thus, undesired zone residence retrieval is avoided and the traffic processing performance is improved.
