The lock, has a bolt (2) which slides horizontally inside a housing (1) between closed and open positions by turning a key in a cylinder, and incorporates a balance arm (3) which turns about a horizontal axis (4) perpendicular to the direction of the bolt's travel. One end (5) of the balance arm is designed to interact by gravity with a stop (7) on the bolt until a coin is introduced into the lock. The lock incorporates a second balance arm (11) which turns about the same horizontal axis as the first one. In its rest position the second balance arm is set at a distance from the bolt stop, but if the lock is subjected to an upward impact in an effort to lift the end of the first balance arm without inserting a coin, the second balance arm engages with the stop on the bolt and prevents the lock from being opened.
