PURPOSE: To back up a Hi-Vision broadcast and an NTSC broadcast automatically mutually when the Hi-Vision broadcast and the NTSC broadcast of the same program content as that of the Hi-Vision broadcast are broadcast simultaneously. CONSTITUTION: When a Hi-Vision broadcast and an NTSC broadcast of the same program contents are simultaneously broadcast through different channels of a satellite broadcast received by a BS tuner 2, or when a Hi-Vision broadcast received by the BS tuner 2 and an NTSC broadcast of the same content by a TV tuner 13 are simultaneously broadcast, data denoting the broadcast channels of the same content to be a backup relation are stored in a memory 22. When a C/N level of an output of the BS tuner 2 detected by a C/N detection circuit 21 is high, a channel selection control circuit 4 reads prescribed data from the memory 22 and the BS tuner 2 receives the Hi-Vision broadcast and when the C/N level is low, the TV tuner 13 receives the NTSC broadcast.
