The solid golf ball of the present invention comprises a core and a cover covering the core, wherein, when a compression deformation formed by applying a load from 10 kg (initial load) to 130 kg (final load) to the core is taken as compression deformation A and a compression deformation formed by applying a load from 10 kg (initial load) to 130 kg (final load) to the golf ball is taken as compression deformation B, the difference (A-B) between compression deformation A and compression deformation B falls within the range of 1.0 to 3.5 mm. The diameter of the core is within the range of 33.7 to 38.1 mm.
