Motor-driven rope winding drum for lifting lowering or moving loads

The drum has a guide and switching cylinder (9) with a rope passage opening (10) rotating around it. The cylinder is supported on an end shield (3). Whenever the rope (6) becomes slack or over-tensioned, the cylinder continues to rotate until one or other of its stops in a groove (18) comes into contact with a limit switch (13) to turn off the pref. electric drive motor (2). The rope is wound from a groove on a safety roller (8) rotating independently of the rope speed into a groove (4) on the drum. The roller is moved longitudinally along the drum by a flange (16) running in the groove in the drum. The rope lies completely within the depth of the drum groove.
