The protector comprises an impact-resistant casing 1,2,3 of trough-like cross section, and a flexible band member 9 secured to the sides of the casing to extend across the trough such that there is space between the band member and the inner surface of the casing. The protector is worn so that the band member rests against the body part, such as leg 10, to cradle it from the casing. The casing comprises an impact-resistant outer cover and a reinforcement member 5 which promotes spring-tension in the band member. The band member may be a web or net of plastics material, and the reinforcement member may be an open structure such as a rib-frame, a grid, an apertured sheet or individual strips. A particular application of the protector is a hockey goalkeeper's leg-guard. |
