PURPOSE: To obtain a method for manufacturing a thermoplastic resin foam in which a surface layer is foamed at a lower magnification than that of an inner layer without requiring special and strict temperature control and hence which has high skin releasing strength and high bending strength. CONSTITUTION: A thermoplastic resin foam is obtained by the steps of substantially uniformly scattering foamable resin pellets 13 containing a thermoplastic resin and a thermal decomposition type foaming agent, heating at the decomposing temperature or higher of the agent, obtaining a foamed sheet 14 by foaming and fusion bonding of the pellets, and applying a force in the surface direction of the sheet at least at the one side surface of the sheet 14 to collapse the foamed cell of the surface layer. |
