PURPOSE: To provide an image forming method fitted to an ink jet recording system imparting a recording image of high quality excellent in water resistance to a medium to be recorded of every kind. CONSTITUTION: A process (A) applying black ink together using a water-soluble black dye and black pigment as colorants and containing a liquid medium dissolving or dispersing those colorants to the image forming region of a medium to be recorded by an ink jet system and a process (B) applying a liquid compsn. different from the ink to the image forming region are provided and an image is formed by the ink and the liquid compsn.
