PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the method and apparatus for feedback of the trainline status to a central processor unit of an electronically controlled railway locomo tive throttle controller capable of remarkably improving the reliability in compar ison with a mechanical throttle controller. SOLUTION: In a locomotive throttle controller, the binary voltage signals 84 derived from corresponding binary signals in a central processor unit are transmitted back to the central processor unit for a group of trainlines, herein numbered as NT. The binary voltage signals are applied to a frequency generator 5 generating a signal (frequency signal) 64 having the frequency representing the characteristic of the binary voltage signal for the group of NT trainlines. The frequency has a different value for every possible combination of binary signals from trainlines. The frequency signal is transmitted back to the central processor unit and processed to recover the NT binary signals corresponding to the binary voltage signals for the group of trainlines.
