PURPOSE: To provide a cathode whose life lasts long even if applied to a highly accurate panel, and which can drive the panel normally. CONSTITUTION: This is a cathode of a gas discharge panel which is provided, being extended at right angles to an anode being extended, with its one part exposed from the window of the phosphor layer provided at the display cell of a gas discharge panel, and an auxiliary anode provided in parallel with this anode, and besides in opposition to the anode part exposed in the window of the anode. The first wide part 41, which is widened in the direction perpendicular to the direction of extension of this cathode 19, is provided at the cross part with the exposed anode part, of the cathode 19. Moreover, the wide part 41 is made in such size as to just cover the exposed anode part when having viewed the anode side from the cathode side. Moreover, the second wide part 43, which is widened in the direction perpendicular to the direction of extension of the cathode, is provided in the cross part with the auxiliary anode, of the cathode 19. |
