PURPOSE: To let a user fetch moving pictures reproduced from an information recording medium as still pictures at an optional timing and display them on a screen by receiving a still picture command from the user, fetching the moving pictures during display as the still pictures and displaying them at positions different from the display positions of the moving pictures. CONSTITUTION: In a manual flash mode, by pushing the prescribed button of a control pad 18 at a timing to perform freezing and fetching as the still pictures, the still pictures are successively prepared from the moving pictures. A command inputted from the control pad 18 is read and whether or not a picture fetching button and the cancellation button of the fetching are pushed is judged. When the picture fetching button is pushed, picture data after MPEG decoding are transferred to a work RAM 38, the pictures of the RAM 38 are fetched to the sprite buffer of a video display processor (VDP1 ,) sprite is set and they are sent to a VDP2 60 and displayed at the positions different from the display positions of the moving pictures of a 1 TV 20 as the still pictures. |
