PURPOSE: To prevent the release of a polarizing plate or a phase-difference plate from a glass cell by bringing the face consisting of a sheet glass by the floating method and laminated with the polarizing plate or phase-difference plate into contact with molten tin in the process of production. CONSTITUTION: A polarizing plate or a phase-difference plate is laminated on a liq. crystal display glass with an adhesion layer in between. The glass consists of a sheet glass by the floating method, and its face laminated with the polarizing plate or phase-difference plate is in contact with molten tin in the process of production. Further, the face in contact with a liq. crystal is cleaned and further treated with hydrofluoric acid to remove alkali metal, or a coating film of silicon oxide, titanium oxide, etc., is preferably formed on the surface by chemical vapor deposition, etc. In this case, the affinity of the adhesive layer for the glass face is increased by the presence of tin, and water is hardly intrudes into the adhesive layer-glass interface. |
