A self-programmed suspension shock-absorber device, particularly for a motor vehicle, including a body (10) with a central chamber (52) and a piston (64) slidably mounted therein, said body and said piston being respectively attachable to a fixed point on the vehicle and to an element whose motion is to be controlled, as well as two compensation chambers for the piston down-stroke (56) and the piston up-stroke (54), said chambers being interconnected via ducts (80, 80d) and provided with respective fixed discharge plates (66, 66d) and translatably movable slide valves (76, 76d). The device is characterised in that each of the fixed discharge plates includes a discharge valve (68, 68d) connected to the corresponding movable slide valve (76, 76d) by a resilient return member (78, 78d).
