FIELD: devices for conjugation of glass fiber 1 with dielectric waveguide 22 integrated on substrate 2. SUBSTANCE: end of fiber 11, 12 is narrowed to, diameter of typical sizes of core of dielectric waveguides, mainly, by fiber drawing under the effect of heat up to rupture, and, on the other side, substrate has depression 21 for receiving fiber. Depression 21 made in substrate is matched with the profile of narrowing end of fiber and passes into connected waveguide. During mounting, glass fiber shall be installed into depression 21 up to stop, and, in this case, it centers itself relative to waveguide. Therefore allowances for sizes and fiber geometry does not lead to increase of losses that is characteristic to the known end face joint. EFFECT: low losses and minor backward scattering, and cut down expenditures. 1 dwg |
