FIELD: chemical industry; plant growth promoters. SUBSTANCE: composition for use in controllable production of phosphine is a mixture of crushed phosphide and a compound that does not mix with water. The density of the composition is that of paste or thick suspension, and the content of phosphide (preferably aluminum phosphide or magnesium phosphide) is 65-85%. The composition that does not mix with water is preferably liquid paraffin or petrolatum or petrolatum mixed with liquid paraffin. The composition may contain some surfactant.
