OH-terminated polycarbonates with mol. wt. 500-12,000, determined by OH value, are based on 36C or 44C dimer diols of formula (I)-(V), with up to 95 mols% of cpds. (I)-(V) opt. replaced by 3-12C aliphatic diols. a + b = 12 and x + y = 14; or a + b = 16 and x + y = 18 (formulae (I), (II), (IV), (V)); c + d = 15 and m + n = 15; or c + d = 19 m + n = 19 (formula (III)).
