The car seat has a frame (18) with a device (20) to turn it about a vertical axis (26). There is a lock (48) to hold the seat in place. This is a catch with one element of the seat and one on the rail (28). Normally the catch is engaged, but it is disengaged by the tilting of the car. The catch element on the seat is a roller and that on the rail is a recess in the shape of a wedge-like groove. The recess is in a mounting that is joined to the turning device and can be adjusted linearly relative to the rails. It has a circular shape, concentric with the turning axis.
