[Classes 113 (i) and 115] Boat-launching gear comprises a pair of straight tracks 11 hinged at 33 to the deck. Normally, the tracks rest at an angle of about 30‹ on deck stools 27. Sliding gravity davits 1 rest on the tracks and are maintained inboard by the tackles 12 which are led over suitably disposed pulleys to the winch 22. Releasing the gear allows the davits 1 to slide down the tracks outboard. Finally the weight of the davits causes the tracks 11 to tip about their pivots 33 into a vertical position. The boats are then lowered to the water. The davits are combined with a gangway comprising the upright 41, Fig. 18, carrying the links 40, 47, which constitute the gangway proper. Links 43 working in guides 44 fixed to the deck and guides 45 fixed to the frame control the motion of the gangway. In a modification, the davit and supporting stool are mounted on a platform over the boat deck. In a modification of this type the track 11 may be swung outboard beyond the vertical position. In another arrangement the davits sliding on the track 11 are designed with two davit heads so that a pair of boats may be operated by the same pair of davits. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a slip hook gear comprising a hook which automatically releases the falls when the boat is water-borne, combined with a sliding-frame which moves the hook opening until removed. This hook is combined with a hand-operated release device mounted in the lower part of the boat. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. |
