New adjuvant contains an iron cpd. in colloidal form. Also claimed are (1) the prepn. of the adjuvant from a soln. of an iron cpd. by adjusting to a pH where the iron cpd. is converted to colloidal form; and (2) a pharmaceutical compsn. contg. the adjuvant and a protein, peptide, polysaccharide and/or nucleic acid deriv. from a virus, bacterium or parasite.
